About Bank:

Manipur Rural Bank was established on 28th May, 1981 as a joint undertaking of Government of India, Government of Manipur and United Bank of India (Sponsor Bank) by contributing share capital at the ratio 50: 15: 35 respectively. It was established under the provisions of Regional Rural Banks Act, 1976 with a view to empower the rural economy and to develop a gateway to the ‘Cooperative Credit Structure’ with the objective to enlarge institutional credit for the rural and agriculture sector.

Objective:

The Bank started its operation with an objective of economic development of the rural people of the state, particularly the weaker sections by participating in different poverty alleviation programmes of Central & State Governments.

Mission:

PROMOTE REGULAR BANKING HABITS TO PUBLIC AND ACCELERATE SUSTAINABLE, EQUITABLE AND INCLUSIVE VALUE ADDITION TO RURAL ECONOMY THROUGH EFFECTIVE CREDIT SUPPORT, DEVELOPMENT AND OTHER INITIATIVES.

We are second largest bank in the branch network in Manipur. All the branches of the bank are working on CBS platform.The Bank has been operating with a network of 28 (twenty eight) branches spread over in all the 9 (nine) districts of the State. Out of 28 branches, 1 (one) branch is in urban area, 9 (nine) branches in semi-urban areas and 18 (Eighteen) branches in rural areas,

Manipur Rural Bank has been the pioneer bank in Manipur for financing in agriculture sector, micro small and medium enterprises and other priority sectors. Our Bank continues to take the major role for providing financial services to the people of Manipur especially to the workers who are engaged as cultivators and agricultural labourers.
It will be our honour to have few words about our state Manipur. It is one of the states in the North Eastern India having total geographical area of 22,327 sq.km.The state has 352 kms long international border with Myanmar to the South East and 502 kms long with the adjacent states of Nagaland and Assam on the west and Mizoram on the south and the South East. According to Census 2011 the population of the state is 27.22 lakh registering an increase of 4.28 lakh during the decade 2001-2011. Of the total population of the state 13.70 lakh were males and 13.52 lakh were females. Agriculture continues to be the backbone of the State’s economy.
