Meghalaya Rural Bank was established on 29th December 1981 under the Regional Rural Banks Act, 1976. The Bank has its Head Office in Shillong, capital city of Meghalaya.

Meghalaya Rural Bank which had initially been operating in only 4 districts, has since 1st may 2007 extended its area of operation to cover the entire State.

Having played a pivotal role in promoting the welface of the people of the State for the last 30 years. the Bank has won for itself a place of trust and confidence in the hearts of the general public.

A major objective of the Bank has been to cater to the financial needs of small and marginal farmers, landless labourers, rural artisans and other weaker sections of society with a view to help raise their socio-economic status.
