As per the notification dated 24.01.2006 issued by Govt. of India, Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs (Banking Division), the erstwhile Shekhawati Gramin Bank having its Head Office at Sikar and Alwar Bharatpur Anchlik Gramin Bank having its Head Office at Bharatpur were amalgamated into one entity i.e. Rajasthan Gramin Bank having its Head Office at Alwar w.e.f. 24.01.2006. The Bank is sponsored by Punjab National Bank. The area of operation of the Bank comprises of five districts i.e. Alwar, Bharatpur, Dholpur, Jhunjhunu and Sikar of Rajasthan State. The Bank is committed to the objective to cater to the financial needs of rural masses to make them self reliant and to facilitate them with better and safer saving opportunities, keeping in view the social responsibility with special care for weaker sections of the society.

In the new banking scenario, the bank has concentrated towards profitability and performing all functions like commercial banks. The bank is not only participating in all the national programmes but also granting big loans to SMEs and Mortgage Loans for overall development of the area. Reserve Bank of India by its notification dated 22nd September 2008 included Rajasthan Gramin bank in II nd Schedule of Reserve Bank of India Act 1934
