Prathama Bank

Prathama bank, the first Regional Rural Bank of the country was established on 2nd Otcober, 1975 with its Head Office at Moradabad in terms of the ordinance issued by the Government of India in 1975. It was sponsored by Syndicate Bank.

The bank is a scheduled Bank and is included in the list of Banks published by RBI in its IInd Schedule. The Bank is presently serving the people in three districts of UP namely Moradabad, Jyotiba Phule Nagar and Rampur. The owner ship of the Bank has been vested with Govt. of India (50%), Syndicate Bank (35%) and Govt. of Uttar Pradesh (15%).The Bank have 212 branches and more than 25 lacs clients. All the branches and Head Office are computerized. Bank have also installed five biometric ATMs at various locations in its operational area, out of which two ATMs are solar power backed.

As on 31st March, 2011 the total business of the Bank was Rs. 5017 crore. Credit Deposit ratio of the Bank is 78.10 % and Capital Adequacy Ratio of the bank is 20.70.Bank have a net worth of Rs.475.39 crore.

The Bank have been allotted 401 villages having population of 2000 and above spread over the above said districts for providing banking services under Financial Inclusion plan by March, 2012. Upto 31.03.2011 seven villages have been covered by opening new branches and thirty villages are being covered by three mobile banking vans. In the financial year 2011-12 the Bank shall open 30 more branches in three districts. .

As on 31st March, 2011 the Bank was having 582 Officers, 395 Office Assistants and 231 Office Attendants, out of which the number of Officers, Office Assistants and Office Attendants belonging to SC category were 81, 70 and 52 respectively. The number of Officers belonging to ST category was 3 only as suitable ST candidates are not available.

The Bank have its own image and have become lifeline of the people in its operational area. Over the last 36 years the bank have developed systems and procedures.
